Owl has always wanted to be a knight， but he's so small the odds seemed stacked against him。 However， as more and more knights start disappearing， there's an open application for knights。 Owl applies and is accepted！ Though he can't wield the smallest sword nor bear the weight of the tiniest shield。 Knight Owl is good at keeping the night watch。 Then one night， Knight Owl learns the real reason behind all the disappearing knights， and finds a friend in the most unlikely of creatures。This was cut Owl has always wanted to be a knight， but he's so small the odds seemed stacked against him。 However， as more and more knights start disappearing， there's an open application for knights。 Owl applies and is accepted！ Though he can't wield the smallest sword nor bear the weight of the tiniest shield。 Knight Owl is good at keeping the night watch。 Then one night， Knight Owl learns the real reason behind all the disappearing knights， and finds a friend in the most unlikely of creatures。This was cute， and made me chuckle。 The ending is a warm one， with a message of how even two seemingly opposite creatures may have just enough commonality to forge a great friendship。 。。。more

I was in love with the art by the title page。 🤩 Artwork gets a well-deserved ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️。 The text is maybe 4 stars。 But with artwork this detailed and adorable it almost doesn’t matter what the story is。 An awesome read-aloud。 One that could be read and enjoyed over and over。

I am trying to make my way thru the 2023 Caldecott contenders with my 1st-6th grade students and this one has been on several mock lists。 While the story was a bit silly， the kids loved it。 As for the art， the focus of our Caldecott judgment， this has been their favorite book so far。 The use of color is bold and vibrant。 The students wanted me to read this one from the moment I put it out based on the cover alone。

This is such a sweet story。 A little owl has the big dream of becoming a knight。 When knights begin to disappear， Owl is accepted into Knight School。 Although he has problems because of being so small， he perseveres and gets an important knight night job for which he is very well suited。 When trouble comes one quiet night， Owl has to be brave and clever。 Stunning illustrations。
